A federal civil forfeiture complaint seeks more than $2 million in seized funds alleged to be proceeds of a scheme by Safeway Medical Transportation LLC to bill New Mexico Medicaid for non-emergency medical transportation trips that did not occur, drivers driving themselves to appointments, duplicate trips, inflated mileage, and falsified transportation records, and state charges were filed against a McKinley County man for using forged prescriptions to obtain Schedule II controlled substances from a pharmacy.
